The University of Sopron (Soproni Egyetem) is one of the oldest technical and scientific institutions in Europe, with roots dating back to 1735 when the first School for Training Mining Officers was established in Selmecbánya. Located in the historic city of Sopron in western Hungary, the university is internationally recognized for its excellence in forestry, timber industry, environmental engineering, and nature conservation — fields in which it holds a unique standing across Europe. The university has four faculties covering economics, engineering, pedagogy, and forestry, with approximately 5,000 students.
