University of Pannonia

The University of Pannonia (Pannon Egyetem) is a public research university founded in 1949, located in Veszprém, western Hungary. Originally established as a regional chemical engineering faculty, it has grown into a comprehensive multi-faculty institution with four faculties covering engineering, economics, informatics, and humanities. The university has branch campuses in Keszthely, Nagykanizsa, Pápa, and Székesfehérvár, making it the most significant higher education institution in the Transdanubian region. With approximately 5,500 students and a selective acceptance rate, University of Pannonia is ranked #1201–1400 by QS (2026) and is particularly noted for its sustainability research and environmental sciences programs. Veszprém itself was a European Capital of Culture in 2023.
