The University of Glasgow, founded in 1451, is the fourth-oldest university in the English-speaking world and a Russell Group member based at the Gilmorehill campus in Glasgow's West End. It educated economist Adam Smith, whose name its business school now carries, and engineer James Watt, whose steam engine improvements were developed on campus. A founding member of Universitas 21, Glasgow has around 40,000 students from over 140 countries studying across four colleges spanning arts, science and engineering, social sciences, and medicine, veterinary and life sciences. It was named Scottish University of the Year by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide in 2024.
