Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), founded in 1931 as the School of Agriculture and granted full university status in 1971, is one of Malaysia's premier research universities, based in Serdang, Selangor. Renamed UPM in 1997, it remains globally renowned for agriculture, forestry and veterinary medicine, while its 15 faculties and 11 institutes now span engineering, science, medicine, economics, human ecology and communication. UPM is home to Putra Science Park, one of Malaysia's leading technology and innovation hubs. With around 27,000 students, it consistently ranks among Malaysia's top five universities and the world's top 150.
