Tanta University

Tanta, Egypt

Tanta University is a public Egyptian university established in 1972 in Tanta, Gharbia Governorate, supervised by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Originally a branch of Alexandria University in 1962, it grew into a fully independent institution with faculties of medicine, pharmacy, engineering, law, agriculture, dentistry, sciences, and arts. With over 130,000 students, it is one of Egypt's largest universities, particularly respected for its medical and pharmaceutical programs — QS ranks it in the top 501–600 globally for Medicine (2025). It sits in the QS 1201–1400 band and ARWU 901–1000 band globally.
