The Pennsylvania State University (Penn State), founded in 1855, is a leading public research university and member of the Association of American Universities, ranked #82 in the QS World University Rankings 2026 with a 5-star overall QS Stars rating. Its 7,958-acre University Park campus anchors a network of 24 campuses across Pennsylvania, together enrolling more than 86,000 students, including over 8,800 international students. Penn State is one of only a handful of US universities holding land-grant, space-grant, sun-grant and sea-grant designations, and its research expenditures exceed $1.44 billion annually.
