Óbuda University is a practice-oriented public technical university in Budapest, Hungary, established in its current form in 2010 following the merger of three historic technical colleges with roots going back to 1879. The university comprises six faculties covering mechanical and safety engineering, electrical engineering, informatics, light industry and environmental protection, architecture and civil engineering, and applied sciences. Óbuda is particularly well known for its leadership in robotics research, IT, and applied engineering, housing some of the most advanced robotics research facilities in Hungary for medical, industrial, and service robotic applications. The university operates four doctoral schools and maintains multiple locations across Budapest. Óbuda is ranked in the QS World University Rankings 2026 in the 1001–1200 range and holds ISO quality certification and the Hungarian Higher Education Quality Award.
