Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary (KRE), established in its present form in 1993 with legal predecessors dating to 1839 and 1855, is a Christian university in Budapest founded by the Reformed Church in Hungary. Named after Gáspár Károlyi, the Calvinist pastor who produced the first complete Hungarian Bible translation in 1590, KRE combines Reformed educational tradition with academic innovation across five faculties: Law, Humanities and Social Sciences, Theology, Economics/Health Sciences and Social Studies, and Pedagogy. More than 9,000 students study at KRE, with degree programs offered in Hungarian, English, and German.
