Assiut University, established in October 1957, is the first university founded in Upper Egypt and one of the country's largest public universities. Located in Assiut on the Nile, it comprises 16 faculties and three specialized institutes, spanning Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Engineering, Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, and a distinctive Faculty of Sugar and Integrated Industries Technology tied to the region's sugarcane industry. Assiut University Hospital is one of the largest and most advanced medical centers in Upper Egypt.
